Botanical Garden Although the Blue Jay can be a bully to other birds, I love birds (also see the Bluebird) and they are very difficult to create using torn paper. Imagine tearing and layering paper to resemble feathers? The “Trout” is a limited edition print created from an original that was donated to an auction to benefit a community park in Northeastern PA. A large print was created as trail art and is currently on display. Prints can be made in a variety of sizes. The woman is this Chigirie print is learning Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging with Sensei Matsui. The garden property in the photo that inspired this paper collage appeared to be abandoned but yet the color of the out-building was striking and bright. Along the Northern North Carolina coast are businesses that thrive on business from seasonal visitors. This building caught my attention as we drove by along one of the main thoroughfares. “Beach Play with Dad at Satsu Beach” (Japan) conveys family life in a Japanese fishing village and beach town. I watched a young child and his father play in the sand during my first trip to Satsu, Japan and quietly took their photograph. Capturing every Sakura I saw would have been difficult. Japan abounds with beautiful landscapes. Three Irises conveys my memories of Japanese gardens. Iris and hydrangea are two flowering plants found throughout Japan. I find beauty wherever I travel.
