As the NSU Art Museum prepares to celebrate its 60th Anniversary, art aficionados are invited to join in the on-going festivities.

Housed in this 83,000-square foot modernist building, NSU is a treasure trove of more than 7,000 works by post-war, avant-garde European Cobra artists, archival materials by American painter William J. Glackens and his circle, John Sloan, George Bellows, Maurice Prendergast, and Glackens’ wife Edith Dimock, contemporary art collection of David Horvitz and Francie Bishop Good, an extensive collection of Latin American and Cuban modern and contemporary art, African and Oceanic Tribal Arts and art of the Americas, and mid-twentieth century New York School artists.

Bonnie Clearwater is the chief curator and a key player in the anniversary commemoration leader in the visual arts that will draw visitors from not only South Florida but national and international audiences. AutoNation, the country’s largest automotive retailer presents the programming that offers significant opportunities for learning and inspiration. Edward Larrabee Barnes set the stage for the museum’s cherished works when he designed the building.

You might ask, “What’s new at the museum?”

Frank Stella. Experiment and Change is a major exhibition spanning the legendary artist Frank Stella’s 60-year career from the late 1950s.

Another show you won’t want to miss is Midnight in Paris and New York: Scenes from the Fin-de-Siecle. Explore the paintings, prints, drawings, architectural designs, and the decorative arts of the Fin-de-Siecle, a fascinating and legendary period at the end of the 19th Century.

Before or after you you’ve seen the latest exhibits at NSU, be sure to stop in at the shops, restaurants, and galleries along Fort Lauderdale’s Las Olas Boulevard and the picturesque Riverwalk waterfront promenade.
